Michael Joyce was established in 1964 and is a family run business. The son took over the running of the company in 1997. Michael Joyce Civil Engineering was set up as a groundwork contractor working for major building contractors mainly in the London region.

The company went limited in October 1997, continuing works on retail parks and industrial complexes, schools and offices, enabling works, road improvements, infrastructure works, demolition and site clearance. Rail contracts include West Anglian route modernisation, Jubilee line extension, Docklands Light railway at London City airport and various new car showrooms and associated workshops for BMW, VW, Honda, Porsche, Vauxhall, Audi and Ford.
